![]() ![]() Under the direction of Michael Price from 1968 to 2014, Goodspeed transformed from a struggling entity into a non-profit arts organization with a mission. Goodspeed’s beginnings date back to 1963 when we opened our doors as a professional musical theatre in an historic building on the banks of the Connecticut River in East Haddam. ![]() Designed by period architect Thomas Lamb in a Second Renaissance Revival style, the Palace Theater features an eclectic mix of Greek, Roman, Arabic and Federal motifs, grand lobby spaces and ornate dome ceilings, all in a palatial setting fit for a king. Poli opened the venue in 1922, after investing $1 million in its opulent décor. Famous New England theater impresario Sylvester Z. Thomaston Opera Houseīuilt in the early 1920’s, the historic Palace Theater was the center of Waterbury, Connecticut’s active cultural scene prior to WWII. Still, we are continuing work to restore this historic facility and improve its technical capabilities. Together we have maintained the type of programming our audiences have come to expect. It is a point of pride for area residents and the many people who participate in its productions each year. This theatre has succeeded due to the countless hard-working and talented volunteers and their relentless dedication to this facility and the arts. The Thomaston Opera house was built in 1884 and serves as a cultural and recreational center for the town and surrounding communities. All spaces are available for rent to host your next meeting, fundraiser, wedding, or other special event. This 1930 Georgian style building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, houses a 500-seat proscenium theater, a formal banquet room with seating for more than 100, a gymnasium with up to 600 person capacity and various meeting rooms. DNR has been ASK’s significant benefactor for the past three years. Bridgeport, CTĪSK, or After School at the Klein, is the cornerstone of The Klein’s education and outreach effort providing tuition-free instruction in music, dance, and drama to Bridgeport students in grades 7 through 12. We bring together a community of musicians, actors, artists, writers, fans, and supporters who are dedicated to the simple premise that the broadest spectrum of live entertainment and cultural exchange is essential to the vitality of our society. The Fairfield Theatre Company is a nonprofit center for the arts and culture located in the heart of downtown Fairfield, Connecticut. ![]() The Klein Memorial AuditoriumįAIRFIELD THEATRE COMPANY. The auditorium, designed by local architect Leonard Asheim, was designed in the Art Deco style and features bronze doors, a marble lobby, inlaid wood and geometric motifs. The venue was built with funds willed to the city by Bridgeport native Jacob Klein (1862-1932), a lawyer and active supporter of Bridgeport community organizations. Built in 1940, it is one of only 7 Broadway-sized stages remaining in Connecticut. The Klein Memorial Auditorium is a 1,447-seat performing arts center that serves as a hub for Bridgeport and surrounding communities. We are proud to have been a small part of the good work of these organizations, by doing our part each year to underwrite their programing: Whenever possible, DNR is proud to assist.ĭNR La boratories, working with HP, donated and installed a complete media/projection system for training and mission control at the Newtown, CT Police Department. We are often asked to donate our services to add value to a fundraiser or to create a striking learning experience for students. Helping non-profits in our community serve their constituencies and achieve their goals is in our DNA.
